New Delhi: Low cost airline IndiGo has been penalised by the Bureau of Immigration for alleged visa-related violations. The immigration authority has slapped a penalty of Rs 1 lakh on IndiGo.
InterGlobe Aviation mentioned in its regulatory filing that there is no material impact on financials, operations or other activities of the company due to the fine.

The penalty of Rs 1 lakh has been imposed by the Bureau of Immigration which comes under the Union Home Ministry. The regulatory filing mentioned that the penalty was imposed for alleged “visa-related violations” was received by the airline on June 11, 2024.

The airline in its BSE explanation stated that it was “exploring possibilities for filing of appeal against the order”.

Some passengers miss Lucknow-Varanasi connecting IndiGo flight

Meanwhile, passengers of an IndiGo flight had a harrowing experience after they missed their connecting flight from Lucknow to Varanasi on June 25 as the incoming plane was delayed due to operational reasons. The lost airline has apologised for the inconvenience caused to the customers.

IndiGo release a statement saying that the customers were served refreshments and also given the option to travel on the next available flight with hotel accommodation in Lucknow. The airline claimed to offer surface transport for the passengers from the airport.

“We deeply apologise for the inconvenience caused to our customers,” it added.

IndiGo flight 6E 518 operating from Dehradun to Lucknow was delayed due to operational reasons. The delay led to some customers missing their connecting flight 6E 7741 from Lucknow to Varanasi.
