Dinesh Karthik back in Royal Challengers Bengaluru hut, appointed as team’s mentor and batting coach

New Delhi: Former wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Kartik has been named as the new mentor and batting coach of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) before the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Kartik took retirement from the IPL in this edition after RCB’s exit from the IPL 2024 playoffs.

Kartik became one of the fan favorites when he returned to the RCB in IPL 2022. He had taken the role of finisher and played with perfection in that role.

DK was known to make comebacks in the teams either in domestic setting or internationally as he did for the Indian team in the T20 World Cup 2022 and also in IPL 2024. He made his case strong to comeback in the Indian team for T20 World Cup 2024 by scoring 326 runs with a monstrous 187.36 strike rate and justified his finisher role.

The veteran batsman had a long career as he debuted for India in 2004 and saw many ups and downs. He made many comebacks in the Indian side and played many heroic innings for the team. He represented Men in Blue in 180 games across all three formats and scored 3463 runs with a Test century and 17 half-centuries. He was also one of the best wicket-keepers India had produced.

Welcome our keeper in every sense, 𝗗𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗵 𝗞𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗸, back into RCB in an all new avatar. DK will be the 𝗕𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗿 of RCB Men’s team! 🤩🫡

“Coaching at a professional level is incredibly exciting for me and is something I’m truly passionate about as a new chapter in my life. Hopefully, the breadth of my experiences as a player can contribute to the development of the group and bring added value.” Kartik said after appointment as batting coach and mentor.

DK’s new role

Kartik didn’t have much experience with the mentorship or batting coach in his career but had a much more involvement in evolving the Tamil Nadu team in domestic. He had played for more than 20 years and is now commentating in international cricket. RCB are yet to win an IPL trophy and have one of the best fanbases in IPL. DK is expected to turn fortunes for RCB by delivering them their maiden IPL title, donning the coaching hat.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have announced Dinesh Kartik as their new mentor and batting coach before the mega auction of IPL 2025.  Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
