From Barbados to Delhi: Special video shows India’s ‘extra special’ companion on chartered plane

New Delhi: The Men in Blue landed in Delhi after winning the T20 World Cup 2024 by defeating South Africa in the final. Rohit Sharma and Co. remained undefeated in the tournament and ended India’s 11-year ICC Trophy drought. The team’s homecoming was delayed for a few days due to Hurricane Beryl however the spirit of the players remained high.

BCCI arranged a special Air India chartered flight ‘AIC24WC’ for the T20 World Cup-winning team and posted a video of Team India’s return journey from Barbados. In the video, the players were seen posing with the trophy and Captain Rohit Sharma was having fun with his teammates.

Fans welcomed Team India at Delhi Airport

The Men in Blue got a grand welcome from the fans upon their arrival at the Delhi Airport. Indian fans started gathering at the Indira Gandhi International Airport at 3 AM to welcome their heroes. The squad received a warm welcome at the airport. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma received the loudest cheers from the fans.

The Indian skipper thanked the fans for their support and showcased the T20 World Cup trophy. The players boarded the bus and left for the hotel where they will take some rest and then will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. After the meeting, the players will depart for Mumbai in a Chartered flight for an open bus parade from Nirman Point to Wankhede Stadium.

The BCCI has organised a special event for the Indian team where they will felicitate all the World Cup-winning players. After the ceremony, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shivam Dube and Sanju Samson will depart for Zimbabwe to take part in five-match T20I series.
