Radhika-Anant mameru ceremony: Isha Ambani’s saree honours Gujarati art of Bandhani [Exclusive]

New Delhi: We are all waiting for the most happening wedding of the year to happen yet. We are all keeping our eyes on 12 July 2024, when the beautiful couple Radhika Merchant and Anant Ambani are all ready to get married in a lavish wedding in Mumbai with all friends and family. After celebrating with two grand pre-wedding parties – one in Jamnagar and another on a European cruise – the couple is set to tie the knot soon.

On 3 July 2024, a ceremony called Mameru was celebrated as a ritual of pre-wedding. In this ceremony, the bride’s maternal uncle (mama) visits her and presents her with gifts like a saree, jewellery, sweets, and dry fruits. The ritual is held at both the bride and groom’s homes, marking the beginning of the wedding celebrations.

Isha Ambani stuns in custom-made Arpita Mehta

During the Radhika-Anant Ambani ceremony, every member of the Ambani family was stunned leaving the internet in shock yet again. Isha Ambani stole the spotlight in a custom-made Arpita Mehta saree, inspiring many to be the Queen of the night with each ensemble and style. She looked stunning in an orange saree with ruffles and golden borders. The saree was decorated with detailed golden threadwork. She paired it with a golden blouse that had embellishments and a sweetheart neckline.

Fashion designer Arpita Mehta stated, “This custom look is a tribute to the ancient Gujarati art of Bandhani, with its exquisite bandhs and intricate designs. We’ve incorporated our signature mirror, thread and cut Danna hand embroidery to craft motifs that celebrate the beauty and craftsmanship of this traditional Indian art form in our classic signature tier ruffle sari. By blending modern style with timeless tradition, we aim to showcase the splendour of Bandhani in a fresh and exciting way.”

Isha Ambani uplifted her entire look to be even more stunning with a green and golden zari necklace, heavy jhumkas with matching necklace and Kundan work heavy kadhas to complete the look. She beautifully tied her hair half from the front and put on a maang tikka to match the saree and enhance the overall look by giving a touch of Gujarati culture to the modern saree drape.

Both the kids were also seen wearing Arpita Mehta, as Krishna was matching with Isha’s outfit colour and Aadhya was matching with Anand’s outfit colour. Also, Aadhya wore a saree for the first time. Isha Ambani was styled by Anaita Shroff Adajania for the pre-wedding mameru ceremony before the wedding.
