A 5-year-old girl died after a pen accidentally pierced into her head in Subhash nagar, Bhadrachalam in Bhadradri Kothagudem district of Telangana, Tv9 telugu reported.
The freak accident occurred on Monday and the girl identified as Riyanshika, succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday at a hospital in Khammam district.
While sitting on the bed in her house and playing with her books, Riyanshika fell down from the cot and the pen she was holding penetrated the upper part of her ear and pierced her head, where almost half the pen got embedded. Her parents Manikanta and Swaroopa had taken her to the Bhadrachalam government hospital but later moved her to a private hospital in Khammam for better treatment on the advise of doctors.
The doctors managed to operate on her and removed the pen on Tuesday but she continued to be critical and died of infection after the surgery, reports said.
