New Delhi, India: A group of thieves were seen celebrating after robbing California’s jewelry store. The CCTV footage shared by Robert Goukasian, the store’s owner quickly went viral.
“Our family jewellery store of over 40 years in West Hollywood has been robbed. All gone. All our inventory has been stolen. Both safes have been looted,” Robert lamented in his Instagram post alongside a video illustrating the aftermath of the burglary.
Despite having a comprehensive security system, Robert noted that the alarm failed to trigger during the break-in. “We do have security cameras that they failed to destroy and will upload a part two. These thieves are highly sophisticated. They used high powered blow torches. They hit our store 2 times in one day. Once early in the morning. Then came back at night for the second safe,” he detailed.
Footage captured by Robert upon entering the store post-robbery revealed the extent of the damage caused by the thieves. In a separate video circulating online, the perpetrators can be seen congratulating each other with high-fives and hugs while ransacking the safe.
Netizens react
Social media users expressed a range of reactions to the video, with one remarking, “They’re over there hugging and congratulating each other like they just won the World Cup. Unbelievable.” Speculation also arose among commenters, with some suggesting it could be an “inside job.” Responding to these claims, Robert refuted any such suspicions.
In the wake of the incident, Huener Jewelry expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support from the community. “We would like to thank everyone for reaching out to us. We appreciate all the support from the community. We are working hard to reopen with fresh inventory very soon,” the store announced.
