‘Tera churma abhi tak aaya nhi’: PM Modi to Neeraj Chopra during interaction with Indian athletes

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday interacted with Paris Olympics-bound Indian athletes in New Delhi. The PM extended his best wishes to the athletes during a special interaction with them, where he advised them to stay calm and sleep well for obtaining best results at the Olympic Games. The sporting extravaganza will start on July 26 and run till August 11.

After the interaction, the PM took to his social media to share the experience of the interaction. “Interacted with our contingent heading to Paris for the Olympics. I am confident our athletes will give their best and make India proud. Their life journeys and success give hope to 140 crore Indians,” Modi wrote on his social media.

India will send a huge contingent of close to 120 people with an aim to register its best-ever medals tally. At the Tokyo 2021 Olympics, India won a record seven medals and would be hoping to increase the tally this time. Along with meeting several athletes personally, Modi also interacted with Olympic javelin champion Neeraj Chopra, two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu and World Champion boxer Nikhat Zareen, among others virtually.

‘Tera churma abhi tak aaya nhi’: Modi to Chopra

While interacting with the athletes, PM Modi in a light-hearted manner reminded Neeraj Chopra to bring mom-made churma, which he had promised to give the PM after returning from Tokyo Olympics. Chopra had promised homemade Churma (a popular sweet delicacy in Haryana) to Modi during his meeting with him but Modi reminded the dashing javelin thrower that he was yet to keep his word.

“I will bring Churma for you this time. Last time in Delhi, I got churma made in sugar but I will bring desi ghee and gur (jaggery) churma from Haryana (this time),” Chopra responded. To this, Modi replied, “No I want to eat churma made at home by your mother, Have sound sleep, keep your focus”, he concluded.
