New Delhi: Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal smashed two back-to-back sixes off one ball against Zimbabwe in the fifth T20I at Harare Sports Club in Harare on July 14. The Men in Blue already won the five-match T20I series by 3-1.
Sikandar Raza and Co. defeated India in the first T20I but the Men in Blue made an outstanding comeback and won the next three games. In the fifth T20I, Jaiswal smashed two consecutive sixes in one ball against captain Sikandar Raza.
Raza opened the bowling for Zimbabwe and bowled a high full-toss at the Indian opener. Jaiswal decided to go low and smashed the ball with full force over deep square leg for a maximum. It was also a no-ball for height and Jaiswal smashed another six straight down the ground on a free hit.
But Raza got the better of Jaiswal in the same over and cleaned him with the full inswinger. The 22-year-old delivered a great performance for India in the fourth T20I but failed to replicate the same on Sunday.
Jaiswal scored an unbeaten 93 runs off 53 balls with the help of 13 maximums and two boundaries. After the match, He praised Rohit and Virat for their incredible contribution to the Indian Cricket. Jaiswal also talked about his comparison with the two Indian legends and said he and his opening partner Gill are trying to take one match at a time.
“I think what they have done for Indian cricket is just incredible and being a part of that dressing room is a blessing. We (him and Gill) are trying to take it match-by-match and one day at a time, focussing on the process” Jaiswal said in the post-match press conference.
Zimbabwe bowlers restricted India to 167
Team India scored 167 in the 20 overs after Zimbabwe opted to bowl first. Indian openers Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal were dismissed cheaply. Sanju Samson scored 58 runs off 45 balls, his brilliant knock was laced with four maximums and one boundary. Shivam Dube and Riyan Parag also made crucial contributions with the bat.
