New Delhi: Team India wicketkeeper batter Richa Ghosh smacked her maiden fifty in T20 internationals in the Women’s Asia Cup 2024 clash between India and UAE in Dambulla on Sunday. She also helped India record their first-ever 200+ total in T20Is as the Women in Blue looked to clinch their second consecutive match at the tournament. Richa struck an unbeaten 64 off just 29 balls laced with 12 fours and a six as she dominated the Rangiri Dambulla Stadium with her batting prowess.
Richa also became the first Indian wicketkeeper to score a fifty in the Women’s Asia Cup and as she batted at the strike rate of 220.69, this is the fastest-ever 50+ score by an Indian woman in T20I history. It is noteworthy that India could never beach the 200-run mark ever before in the T20Is with the highest total being 198/4 against England in 2018 at the Brabourne Stadium.
The clash against UAE turned out to be a record-breaking affair as India surpassed all of their past highest totals of T20Is to register a new benchmark.

India beat UAE by 78 runs
India registered a massive win over the UAE and secured their second win in a row by 78 runs. The UAE side never looked into the game as they were clinically dominated in all three departments by Team India. Inviting the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side to bat first, the skipper (66 off 47) and Richa stitched a brilliant stand of 75 runs for the fifth wicket which helped India post a total of 201/5 in 20 overs.
Coming out to chase, the UAE batters endured a flop show as they were left scattered by the Indian bowling line-up with the top-scorer being Kavisha Egodage who scored 40 off 32 balls. Esha Rohit Oza, the skipper, who also opened the UAE innings scored 38 runs off 36 balls. However, no other batter could score significantly as they were halted at 123/7 in 20 overs with India winning the game by 78 runs.
