Budget 2024 Big Announcements on Health: FM Sitharaman to introduce ease of access?

New Delhi: On July 23rd, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has released her 7th Budget for the country. In the speech, she is expected to focus on a plan that is centred on achieving and sustaining high economic growth and also implementing welfare schemes on improving the current state of healthcare in the country and also to make efforts towards enhancing access to facilities for the middle and low-income groups.

Earlier this year, in February, Sitharaman presented the Interim Union Budget 2024 for Health on February 1. We are yet to see what will be in plan for the upcoming year.

Here’s what the FM announced as part of the Health Budget 2024. 

The Union Health Ministry has been allocated a funding of Rs 90,658.63 crore in the 2024-2025 Interim Budget. This is a 12.59% hike from the 2023-2024 Budget, when Rs 80,517.62 were allocated.

New medical colleges will also be opened in Bihar.

Food quality and safety testing labs will be setup.
