New Delhi: This summer’s football festival continues with the Olympics just a few days after the Euro and Copa America final. Football will once again be a part of the condensed tournament for both men’s and women’s teams.
As per the organisers this edition has sold more tickets 8.6 million than any previous edition even overtaking Atlanta 1996’s 8.3 million.
The event is set to be declared open in Paris on July 26 after a grand opening ceremony. However, men’s football games will start from today along with rugby, archery, and handball while the women’s tournament begins on the following day July 25.
Many stars are missing from their national team rosters but there are still strong-looking squads such as Argentina, Spain, and USA.
The men’s Olympic football will get underway today with 12 teams in action. In one of the two early kickoffs, outsiders Uzbekistan take on a highly anticipated Spain team, while Argentina will begin their campaign against Morocco at that time.
