New Delhi: Indian pace bowling superstar Jasprit Bumrah is enjoying an extended break from competitive cricket after helping the Men in Blue clinch the T20 World Cup title in the Caribbean. Bumrah was instrumental in India’s historic win at the T20 marquee event in the Americas, and a key player to contribute towards the landmark victory that ended India’s ICC trophy and World Cup jinx.
Bumrah received the Player of the Series award for claiming 15 wickets in the tournament with a superb economy rate of 4.17.
Besides Bumrah, two other experienced cricketers played a crucial role in India’s unbeaten campaign. Skipper Rohit Sharma and former skipper Virat Kohli made their mark on the tournament by their contributions on the field and presence in the dressing room. Rohit’s leadership qualities and fiery batting were on full display while Kohli proved his worth by aggressive internet, and positive energy, capping the campaign with a match-winning knock in the final.
Both iconic players, who retired from T20Is following the WC triumph, will return to action in the ODI series against Sri Lanka, starting in the first week of August. Bumrah will also make a comeback to cricket in the 50-over series after being given a rest from the T20I leg of the tournament.
Bumrah hails Kohli, Rohit
In a series of videos going viral on social media, Bumrah spoke about Kohli’s leadership qualities and opened up on Rohit’s captaincy style. Bumrah hailed Virat for his leadership qualities and how his positive energy inspires the whole team.

Bumrah also revealed how Rohit is one of the few captains who has empathy for the bowlers.

India’s next international assignment is in Sri Lanka in a white-ball series, comprising of three T20Is and as many T20Is.
