New Delhi: Spain’s two current tennis bests – Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Nadal were off to a winning start in the Paris Olympic 2024 as they routed the sixth seed Argentine pair of Andres Molteni and Maximo Gonzalez in straight sets (7-6 (4), 6-4) at the Stade Roland Garros on Sunday. The opening day of the Summer Games witnessed the dominance of the two Spaniards as they brought the Phillipe-Chatrier crowd to their feet with their brilliant on-court chemistry.
The match went on for an hour and 47 minutes as the king of clay and his compatriot left the fans thrilled, bagging their first-ever doubles win together. The duo garnered much attention due to one being a veteran who might hang up his shoes anytime soon and the youngster who has just begun his career and is already on the path to becoming one of the legendary from Spain.

The 14-time French Open champion and the defending champion joined hands to kick off their campaign with a win, being high on energy with their flamboyant chemistry. The Spaniards went into a tie-breaker in the opening set but came from behind fighting hard to put the pressure back on their opponents. The duo went down 0-3 in the second set but bounced back to win six games out of seven and show doors to the Argentine rivals.
