New Delhi: Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s talisman Virat Kohli completed 3,500 T20 runs at their home ground of the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. The top-order batter reached the milestone in RCB’s IPL 2025 game against Rajasthan Royals on Thursday.
He is the only batter to score 3,500-plus runs at a venue in T20 cricket with over 3,000 of them coming in the IPL. Kohli is the only cricketer to have represented a single franchise in the IPL since the domestic franchise league’s inception in 2008.
The 36-year-old is also IPL’s leading run-scorer with over 8000 runs, beng the only batter to reach the landmark. He scored 70 off 42 balls on Thursday, his fifth half century in nine matches of IPL 2025.
He hot eight boundaries and two sixes to reach 3,500 T20 runs at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in 108 games, hitting four of his eight IPL centuries at the venue.
His 3000-plus runs at the Chinnaswamy has come at a strike rate of 142 with the help of 22 fifties. The former India skipper also became the batter with most fifty-plus scores while batting first in T20s.
His 70-run knock was his 62nd fifty-plus score while taking first strike, overtaking Pakistan batter Babar Azam’s 61 fifty-plus mark while former West Indies opener Chris Gayle (57) is third on the list.
