New Delhi: Indian shooter Ramita Jindal failed to grab a medal as she finished a disappointing seventh in the final of the women’s 10m air rifle event at the Paris Olympics 2024 on Monday, July 29. Jindal was the first medal prospect for India on the day but couldn’t live up to the expectations in the final as she bowed out early from the final.
Jindal made a strong start in the final as she managed to score 52.5 after her first five shots. However, a 9.7 in her last shot in the second series saw her falter. She was involved in a shoot-off with France’s Oceanne Muller in the elimination round and crashed out after a 10.5 in her final shot.
Muller shot 10.8 to progress further while Jindal bowed out with a total score of 145.3 in the final. Ramita was in third place and in the reckoning for a medal after her first nine shots. However, a 9.7 in her 10th shot saw her drop to the seventh spot and there was no coming back.
