Hyderabad: A 30-year-old woman suffered a serious injury on her left ankle after being hit by a stray bullet in Gandhamguda, under Narsingi police station limits, reports said.
The woman identified as Padma, was taken to the nearby hospital for treatment by locals and was later discharged.
The bullet could have been misfired from a nearby firing range where army soldiers were practicing. The Narsingi police arrived at the scene shortly after the incident occurred and quickly seized the bullet.
The incident is the second in as many weeks and stirred up panic in residents of the area. Two weeks ago, a similar incident occurred in which a bullet landed in a house in the same area.
Police said that the village is in between the army firing range and the police academy firing range and the place where the incident happened is close to the police academy firing range.
Speaking to the media, the victim Padma said that she was at home in the afternoon when she felt a something very sharp hit her ankle area.
Police launched a probe into the incident.
