Wayanad landslides: 15 dead, 400 families stranded; Shutters of Banasura Sagar dam opened

Wayanad: At least 15 people have died following the massive landslides that have struck parts of Wayanad including Meppadi, Mundakkai and Chooral Mala in the wee hours of the day. Two units of the NDRF teams are currently involved in the search operations in the region. 10 deadbodies were recovered from the Chaliyar river, says reports.

Shutters of the Banasura Sagar dam is also opened.

As per reports, 400 families have been stranded in the region following the collapse of the bridge near Chooral Mala Town. The bridge is the only access to the Chooral Mala town. Meanwhile two helicopters from Sulur Air Force station will reach Wayanad and two teams of the Kannur Defense Security corps are also on the way to Wayanad.
