New Delhi: Turkish shooter Yusuf Dikec has hogged the limelight on Thursday in the ongoing Paris Olympics 2024. The 51-year-old claimed the silver medal in the 10m air pistol mixed team event along with his partner Sevval Illayada Tarhan after losing to Serbian pair Zorana Arunovic and Damir Mikec 14-16 in the final.
The ubiquitous element of the final was that the five-time Olympian displayed a non-chalant approach during his competition. The shooters are well known to dress up with their protection kit, consisting jacket, trousers, gloves and also use headband or glasses to protect their eyes. However, Yusuf Dikec had none of it during his mixed team final as he was dressed in a casual manner.
He wore the Turkish shirt and a simple lenses for his event while shooting with one hand in the pocket. The attire and gesture of the veteran shooter prompted hilarious reactions on social media platforms with several of memes and comments evoking laughter.

Who is Yusuf Dikec? All you need to know about the shooter
Yusuf Dikec is a Turkish shooter who competes in various shooting events of 10m air pistol. He holds the national record in many events in Turkiye. He is also a retired officer of the Turkish army (Gendarmerie General Command) He is currently part of the Jandarma Gucu Spor Kulubu Dernegi .
Born on January 1, 1973, in the Taşoluk village of Göksun district in Kahramanmaraş Province, Yusuf completed his secondary education from his village itself. He graduated from the Gazi University School of Physical Training and Education in Ankara. He completed his Master’s in Coaching from the Selcuk University in Konya.
After the completion of his army services, Yusuf started his professional shooting career in 2001. He became a prominent figure in the Turkish shooting circuit, accounting for many national records across categories. Yusef created a new world record in 25m center-fire pistol event when he accumulated 597 points at the CISM World Military Championships in Rena, Norway.
Over two decades of a storied career, Yusuf Dikec has won numerous medals in ISSF World Cups, ISSF World Championships, and European Championships, European Games, and the recent Olympic medal has been a cherry on the cake for the 51-year-old.
