New Delhi: Neeraj Chopra stormed into the men’s javelin throw finals on Tuesday with a season’s best effort of 89.34m. The star Indian javelin thrower just came and conquered as he made it to the finals in the first attempt itself, similar to his show at the Tokyo Olympics.
This was Neeraj’s second-best attempt overall, with his best being a record throw of 89.94 at the Stockholm Diamond League in 2022. Meanwhile, at the Paavo Nurmi Games in Finland, he recorded a throw of 89.30m
The other Indian in fray, Kishore Jena, is unlikely to make the 12-man final after managing a best throw of 80.73m. Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem, who is the reigning Commonwealth Games champion, also qualified for the finals with a throw of 86.59m.
