New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu congratulated the Indian Hockey team for winning their second consecutive bronze medal at the Paris Olympics 2024. The Men in Blue secured the bronze medal after beating Spain by 2-1 on Thursday, August 8 at Yves-du-Manoir Stadium – 1.
Both teams played a goalless first quarter but Miralles scored the first and only goal for Spain in the 18th minute. The Indian captain Harmanpreet Singh scored the equaliser in the 30th minute and helped the team take the lead in the 33rd minute with another goal. The Men in Blue suffered a heartbreaking defeat against Germany by 3-2 in the semi-final and failed to reach the Olympic final after 44 years.
