Plane With 62 Passengers Onboard Crashes in Brazil’s Sao Paulo, All Passengers Feared Dead

A plane aboard 62 passengers crashed in the city of Vinhedo in Brazil’s Sao Paulo state on Thursday. Local firefighters confirmed the crash but have yet to release further details. 

Social media is abuzz with footage of a large fire and smoke emanating from what seems to be the plane’s fuselage. Additional videos show the aircraft spiraling downward before crashing.

Airline issues statement

Voepass Linhas Aéreas has issued a statement following the crash of Flight 2283 in Brazil’s São Paulo’s Vinhedo region. The aircraft, which had 58 passengers and 4 crew members aboard, was en route from Cascavel to Guarulhos Airport when the accident occurred on August 9. 

The airline’s statement reads: “VOEPASS Linhas Aéreas reports the occurrence of an accident involving flight 2283 – PS – VPB in Vinhedo/SP. We are currently taking all necessary measures to support those involved. At this time, we do not have details regarding the cause of the accident or the condition of those on board. We are providing information to passengers, family members, and employees via our 24-hour telephone service at 0800 9419712.”

Emergency responders are at the scene, and an investigation into the cause of the crash is underway.
