New Delhi: Pakistan legend Shoaib Akhtar sent chills down the spine of the batters during his stint in international cricket. Known for his lethal pace and deadly deliveries, he stunned the cricket world with his thunderbolt deliveries that either rattled the stumps or broke the batter. Clocking 150 kmph+ was a cakewalk for him as he remained consistent in it and shattered all records by bowling the fastest delivery in cricket history.
He is currently widely regarded as the fastest bowler in cricket history as his record of bowling a 161.3 kmph delivery, which he achieved in 2003 still remains unbeaten. It has been over 20 years and no bowler has been able to breach Akhtar’s record. Even his aggression and aura on the field made him stand apart from the rest as he weighed in on the kind of bowling that he displayed across a stint of 14 years in cricket.
He debuted for Pakistan in 1997 through Test cricket and bid adieu to the game in 2011, having picked 444 wickets across formats in international cricket. He hails from Rawalpindi in Pakistan, the reason why he is fondly known as “Rawalpindi Express”. One of the worst things to judge Akhtar would be on the basis of his records, which although aren’t unimpressive but don’t yield much.
