New Delhi: The daily La Vanguardia claimed, using official sources acquainted with the situation, that Mounir Nasraoui, the father of Barcelona and Spain winger Lamine Yamal, was stabbed late on Wednesday in a car park in the northeastern Spanish town of Mataró. The information could not be independently verified by the news agency Reuters. Requests for comment were not immediately answered by a representative for the municipal administration of Mataró or the regional Mossos d’Esquadra police force.
As per the article published by La Vanguardia, Nasraoui was admitted to the Can Ruti hospital located in the neighboring city of Badalona, where he received a “serious” diagnosis. It further stated that many witnesses to the crime had been found by local and regional police. Nevertheless, a subsequent report by the sports website Relevo claimed that Nasraoui had returned home after being released from the hospital, citing more official sources.
