New Delhi: Australia’s national men’s cricket team captain Pat Cummins announced on Tuesday that he will become a father for the second time. Father to a son named Albie, Cummins and his wife Becky Boston wrote on social media about their impending parenthood.
Cummins and Becky got engaged in 2020 and then got married in August 2022. They announced their excitement by saying they are bracing to add a “little more craziness” in their lives.
Cummins and Becky welcomed their first baby Albie on October 8, 2021. A pregnant Becky posted three pictures of her with Albie while announcing the news of pregnancy.
“We are so happy to finally share our news! We are so excited to meet you baby, and to add a little more craziness to our lives,” Becky wrote on Instagram.
Break for family time
Cummins took a two-month break after captaining Australia in the T20 World Cup in June. His team failed to qualify for the semi-finals.
The pace-bowling all-rounder said he needed time to recharge his batteries after playing regularly for the last 18 months, having led Australia to 2023 ODI World Cup triumph in India.
“Everyone that comes back after a break is a little bit fresher, you never regret it. I’ve basically been bowling non-stop since the World Test Championship final, nearly 18 months ago,” Cummins had said, as quoted by Fox Sports.
“This gives me a good seven or eight weeks completely off bowling so the body can recover, then you start building up again for the summer. It means you can hopefully bowl for a little bit longer, maintain pace is a bit easier, make you less susceptible to injuries.”
In 2024, Cummins-led Sunrisers Hyderabad reached the Indian Premier League final, where they were beaten by Kolkata Knight Riders.
He is currently preparing to lead Australia in a five-match Test series against India, with the first game beginning on November 22 in Perth.
