Koh-i-Noor

The Koh-i-Noor diamond is the most expensive in the world, weighing 105.6 carats and being oval-shaped. It is surrounded by mystery and legend, believed to have been mined in India in the 1300s. There is controversy around the stone, with claims that Britain stole it from India. Britain acquired the diamond in 1850 and had it cut in 1852 to increase its brilliance. The Koh-i-Noor is also called the Mountain of Light and the Diamond of Babur.

Cullinan

The Cullinan is the largest rough diamond of gem quality ever found, weighing an incredible 3,106.75 carats. It was discovered in South Africa in 1905 and cut into nine main stones, the largest of which is the 530.2-carat Cullinan I.

Hope Diamond

The Hope Diamond, a 45.52-carat Fancy Dark Gray-Blue antique cushion cut diamond, was believed to have been discovered in India in the 1600s. It was bought by King Louis XIV in 1668 and later stolen during a crown jewel looting in 1791. It resurfaced in London in 1839 before being purchased by Harry Winston in 1949 and donated to the Smithsonian Institution.

Centenary Diamond

The Centenary Diamond weighed over 500 carats as a rough diamond and was later cut to a modified heart shape, weighing 273.85 carats. The re-cutting process took 154 days.

Pink Star

The Pink Star, previously known as the Steinmetz Pink, is the largest diamond to have been graded a Fancy Vivid Pink. It is an internally flawless, oval diamond weighing 59.60 carats, which was bought by Chow Tai Fook Enterprises in 2017.

Diamonds are highly sought after for their exceptional colour, clarity and size, with blue, pink, and red diamonds being the most valuable. They inspire some of the most expensive engagement rings made by renowned designers.   knowledge Knowledge News, Photos and Videos on General Knowledge
