New Delhi: Northeast United will take on Shillong Lajong FC in the first semi-final and Mohun Bagan Super Giant will face Bengaluru FC in the second semi-final of the Durand Cup 2024.
NorthEast United beat Indian Army Football Team by 2-0 with strikes from Nestor Albiach and Guillermo proving the difference. Nestor scored the first goal for the Highlanders in the 52nd minute and Guillermo scored the second in the 73rd minute of the game.
While Lajong defeated East Bengal by 2-1 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Shillong. Brazilian Marcos Rudwere Genar Silva scored the first goal in the eighth minute for the hosts but the Kolkata side levelled the score in the 77th minute of the game. Figo Syndai scored the all-important goal in the 84th minute for Lajong to help his team qualify for the semi-final.
Mohun Bagan beat Punjab FC in the third quarterfinal of the Durand Cup 2024 to keep their title defence alive. The quarterfinal contest ended with a 3-3 scoreline in regulation time but Scottish defender Thomas Aldred scored the winning penalty for the Mariners and they qualified for the semifinal.
Bengaluru FC defeated Kerala Blasters by 1-0 to seal their place in the semi-finals at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata. Pereyra Diaz scored the winning goal of the match in injury time for the Blues.
