New Delhi: IndiGo airline’s parent company InterGlobe Enterprises entered into the hotel business with one boutique hotel each in Paris and Barcelona. Named Miiro, the hotels are part of the company’s strategy to open more properties in Europe over the next couple of years.
Having launched the 123-room Le Grand Hotel Carye in Paris in July, the company launched the 92-room Borneta in Barcelona, Spain in August, said Miiro CEO Neena Gupta. Miiro now plans to launch properties in London and Vienna in 2025, she added. The company plans to open a 156-room property, Templeton Garden in London in Spring 2025, she said. Miiro will launch 2 properties in Vienna with a 200-room capacity next year. The company aims to expand its presence on the Continent by 2026.

Interglobe Aviation’s hospitality foray Miiro has been launched in partnership with French hospitality giant Accor Hotels. The two operate 7,000 rooms across 30 hotels in India. Miiro is a wholly owned subsidiary of InterGlobe Aviation and derives its name from the Latin word for the expression “I wonder”, according to the group.

Overall, Interglobe Enterprises operates 13 properties in 11 countries across the world, including 1 240-room property in Melbourne, Australia. A 417-room hotel in Amsterdam’s Schipol Airport, which was acuired in 2018. The group then acquired the Reichschof Hotel in Germany’s Hamburg, which had 278 rooms. InterGlobe also acquired 10 properties from K+K Hotels Elisabeta, an Austrian hospitality company in 2019. They won 10 hotels in cities ranging from Austria and the Czech Republic to Spain and the UK.

To date, 3 hotels have been rebranded under the Miiro brand. InterGlobe is eyeing properties in Milan and Florence next, said Gupta, who also serves as executive director of the hospitality division at InterGlobe Enterprises.
IndiGo airline’s passengers can now extend their association with the brand even after landing in Europe by choosing to stay at properties operated by its parent company InterGlobe Enterprises.
