‘Lot Of Questions To Answer’: Trump Signals He Will Skip September 10 Debate Against Harris

Former US President Donald Trump seems to reconsider his participation in the September 10 debate against Vice President Kamala Harris, which was previously confirmed earlier this month. Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social, on Sunday evening to criticize ABC News, the network hosting the debate, questioning the fairness and objectivity of the event.

Trump’s criticism targeted ABC News anchor Jonathan Karl, whose recent interview with Senator Tom Cotton Trump deemed “biased.” He also disparaged the network’s panel, labeling them as “Trump Haters.” In a series of posts, Trump voiced concerns over the network’s credibility and the potential for an unfair debate environment.

“I watched ABC FAKE NEWS this morning, both lightweight reporter Jonathan Karl’s ridiculous and biased interview of Tom Cotton (who was fantastic!), and their so-called Panel of Trump Haters, and I ask, why would I do the Debate against Kamala Harris on that network?” Trump wrote.

He further questioned the integrity of the debate setup, referring to past controversies involving ABC News panelist Donna Brazile and suggesting that the network might be biased in favor of Harris. Trump also speculated about the involvement of George Stephanopoulos, a former Clinton aide and current ABC anchor, and implied that Harris’s choice of network was a strategic move.

Trump had initially proposed a debate on Fox News, which Harris did not agree to. After a brief period of confirming participation in the ABC News debate, Trump’s latest posts signal a potential withdrawal, leading to significant debate on social media.

Critics have accused Trump of avoiding the debate, labeling him as “Chicken Sh*t Trump” and suggesting that he is afraid of facing Harris or anticipates a loss. Conversely, Trump supporters argue that Harris’s choice of ABC News was a deliberate move to leverage Trump’s ongoing legal issues with the network, thereby creating an unfair debate environment.

The debate’s future remains uncertain as both sides await further developments.
