‘He creates good environment on field’: Team India’s fielding coach praises captain Rohit Sharma

New Delhi: Team India captain Rohit Sharma has started preparing for the upcoming Test season. The Men in Blue will play a two-match Test series against Bangladesh at home, beginning on September 19. After that, Rohit and Co. will face New Zealand in a three-match Test series at home in October followed by a five-match Test series against Australia, starting from November 22.

The 37-year-old led India in the T20 World Cup 2024 and announced his retirement after winning the title. He last played during the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka and scored 157 runs at an average of 52.22.

Rohit is also the second-highest run-scorer from Team India in the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC) cycle 2023-25. He has scored 700 runs from nine matches at an average of 46.66, including three centuries and three fifties.

Team India is currently at the top of the WTC points table with six wins in nine matches while the Australian team is in second place with eight wins in 12 matches.

‘Rohit is one of the best’: T Dilip

Fielding coach T Dilip lauded Indian captain Rohit Sharma and said that he’s one of the pullers in the game. Dilip also said that Rohit is very funny on the field and he tries to create a good environment.

“I can’t discuss his batting because everyone knows he’s one of the best pullers of the ball. I’ve seen very few individuals as good as him in my career. Actually, he’s a very funny person. You saw that in the recent match when Washington Sundar slipped while bowling, and he ran into him. He tries to create a good environment on the field. He’s a great human being. No need to mention his leadership, you have seen in the recent World Cup and before that IPL trophies. He’s one of the best” T Dilip said on Raw Talks with Vamshi podcast.
