Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance wins bid for heavy battery manufacturing: Why it’s important

New Delhi: The Centre on Wednesday announced that Mukesh ambani-led Reliance Industries had emerged as the most successful bidder under the PLI scheme for advanced chemistry cell battery storage. In a PIB note, the government said that Reliance’s bid was selected out a total of 7 bids invited for 10 GWh ACC production.

The bidders have been ranked according to their score with ACME Cleantech ranked second after RIL, Amara Raja ranked third, Waaree Energies ranked 4th, JSE Neo Energy ranked 5th and Lucas TV ranked 6th. This is the second bid invited by the government under the PLI Scheme for ACC since the scheme was notified in 2021 with an outlay of Rs 18,000 crore. The first round of bidding was concluded in March 2022 for 30 GWh capacity.
