Virat Kohli pips MS Dhoni, Sachin Tendulkar to emerge as highest tax paying sportsperson in India

New Delhi: Virat Kohli has developed as habit of climbing to the pinnacle of everything and passing each and every subject with flying colours. Like he excels on the field, pocketing each and every record, the flamboyant Indian cricketer has pipped greats of Indian cricket like Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni to become the highest tax paying sportsperson in India.

As per Fortune India’s list, Virat Kohli paid a whopping sum of 66 crore rupees as income tax for the financial year ending on March 31, 2024. By virtue of this, the star Indian player left behind MS Dhoni, Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and Hardik Pandya in the Indian sportspersons list. Surprisingly, the name of Indian skipper Rohit Sharma is nowhere seen in the list.

The 35-year-old batter from Delhi is fifth on the overall list of the highest tax paying celebrities in India after Shah Rukh Khan, Tamil actor Vijay, Salman Khan and Amitabh Bachchan who paid Rs 92 crore, Rs 80 crore, Rs 75 and Rs 71 crore respectively. Meanwhile, young Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant is last on the list with Rs 10 crore tax.
