Air India implements New Distribution Capability; how customers can benefit

New Delhi: Tata Group-owned Air India has implemented the New Distribution Capability (NDC), becoming the first airline in India to roll out the new technology that simplifies booking flights. Air India has adopted the latest 21.3 schema of the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

IATA introduced the NDC to improve the distribution of airline products by leveraging technology standards. It enables “airlines to provide richer and more detailed content about their products, such as ancillary services, fare families, and personalised offers, beyond traditional booking systems. This initiative can revolutionise the way airline products are retailed and involves collaboration between airlines, travel agencies, technology providers, and other stakeholders to develop and implement standards for more seamless and efficient distribution processes,” the statement read.

Air India said that NDC-enabled content distribution will help its partners maintain relevancy and future-proof their customer offerings. The Tata Group’s airline aims to simplify digital retail practices for its customers with the help of NDC APIs.

New Distribution Capability benefits

The platform comes with multiple payment options like deferred payment (hold booking), BSP cash, IATA EasyPay and credit card.

Travel agents can get easy access to offers and services in real time. The NDC-enabled channels will enable direct access to to all Air India fare families.
