New Delhi: The Indian Paralympic contingent will look to add more medals to their most successful campaign at the Paris Paralympics 2024 on Saturday as the prestigious event comes to the business end.
India mustered their best medal tally after breaching the 19-medal haul attained in Tokyo three years ago. The country has bagged six gold, nine silver and 12 bronze medals to finish with 27 medals in total at the end of Friday’s action.
The Indian para canoers and para athletes will be in action on Saturday. Canoers Yash Kumar and Prachi Yadav qualified for the semifinals from heats in their respective events. If they progress for the finals then they will be in contention for medals.
Later in the day, Simran Sharma, Dilip Gavit and Navdeep Singh will feature in finals of their respective disciplines. The trio can add to the boisterous 14-medal tally coming from the para athletics contingent in this edition.
Suyash Jadhav, who is the lone para swimmer from India in Paris, will get into the act in the men’s 50m butterfly S7 heats. Arshad Shaikh and Jyoti Gaderiya will be in action in the para cycling events of men’s and women’s competitions, respectively.
