James Anderson: England pacer takes seven wickets ahead of farewell Test | Watch the magical spell

New Delhi: James Anderson has no plans to slow down. The 41-year-old pacer will retire from Test cricket after the England-West Indies first Test, starting on July 10 at Lord’s but judging by his performance in his first match of the summer, it looks like he can go on for a couple more seasons.

Anderson bagged seven wickets in Lancashire’s County Championship match against Nottinghamshire, eight days before his final Test for the Three Lions.

The veteran pacer ripped through the Nottingham batting order, picking up six wickets before Lunch. He bagged another wicket in the afternoon session.

The first of the three-Test series between England and West Indies will be Anderson’s 188th of his long and illustrious career. The right-arm pacer, who made his debut in 2003, has taken 700 wickets, the most of any fast bowler in Test history.

It was the 55th five-wicket haul of Anderson’s first-class career. His overall tally of first-class wickets swelled to 1,121.

Anderson has been appointed as a fast-bowling mentor of the English men’s cricket team following his retirement from international cricket.
