Rohit vs Virat vs Dhoni: Who did Virender Sehwag pick in ‘this or that’ challenge?

New Delhi: Indian batting legend Virender Sehwag was recently asked to rate the current and former players and the ultimate result that came out was quite shocking. Sehwag is known for his outspoken and carefree personality and the traits looked visible in his picks when he took on the “this or that” challenge on the sidelines of the recently-concluded Delhi Premier League T20.

In what was a promotional video of the newly inaugurated cricket league, the host presented Sehwag with a set of cricketing greats across the world and put tough choices for him. A rule of the game says that the response has to be quick and Sehwag took not time in making his choices clear. He didn’t even think twice on rating the Indian players against each other as well, some of whom he has had played with.

The choices given to him were legendary MS Dhoni or England Test skipper Ben Stokes and he went with the former Indian skipper. He was then asked to choose between Dhoni and AB de Villiers and he went on to pick the South African cricket. After that, Virat Kohli was brought into competition against de Villiers to which he replied with Kohli.

Sehwag then picked Kohli over Australia captain Pat Cummins and it was at this point that he was served the tough choice between Kohli and Rohit Sharma. The opening stalwart however didn’t take any time and went on to choose the current Team India skipper. In the follow-up, Sehwag also ignored David Warner and Dale Steyn for Rohit, rating the explosive Indian batter over everyone.

Rohit’s era

Rohit Sharma had a modest start in Team India and only got most of his chances when legends like Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag were about to bid adieu to international cricket. He remained an on-and-off player until 2013 when he was picked for the Champions Trophy 2013 and promoted up the order to open alongside Shikar Dhawan in what turned out to be another flamboyant and explosive opening pair of Indian cricket.

Since then, Rohit has been the backbone of team India. He is the no. 1 ranked opener in the world and has thoroughly changed the way Team India plays the game. He is known for showing intent and aggression through his batting and giving flying starts to the team to ease out pressure on the middle order. Rohit has excelled for India in all the three formats and recently bid farewell to T20Is after handing India the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

Virender Sehwag made his choice clear among the top cricket players in the world on the sidelines of Delhi Premier League T20 and the result is indeed startling.  Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
