New Delhi: In a groundbreaking move, Manchester City, the reigning Premier League champions have partnered with Techno India Group to establish its first-ever football school in India. Located in the heart of Kolkata, the city renowned for its passionate football culture, this new venture aims to provide aspiring young footballers with a world-class education.
Set to open in late 2024, the school aims to provide young athletes with access to top-tier football coaching, led by experts directly associated with Manchester City. As part of the program certified Manchester City coaches will relocate to Kolkata to implement the specialised training program tailored to the needs and growth of Techno India Group students.
By embracing the methods used by Manchester City’s own academy, the program promises to offer a comprehensive football education that emphasizes both individual and team development. The initiative is expected to elevate grassroot level football in West Bengal, paving the way for more professional opportunities for aspiring footballers across the region.
Jorgina Busquets, Managing Director of Football Education at City Football Group, expressed her excitement about the partnership: “We are thrilled to be opening our first Manchester City Football School in Kolkata with Techno India Group. The official opening of the venture is stated to take place in late 2024 for Techno India Group students initially and will look to expand the offer programs for the wider community in 2025, aiming to foster footballing skills among a broader range of young players in West Bengal.
