New Delhi: Now that cricket is set to debut at the Olympic Games 2028 in Los Angeles, there have been major talks about including the sport in the Paralympics as well. For India, a cricket fanatic nation, the craze and talent have been equal on either side. The euphoria surrounding the Indian Paralympic athletes is still alive as the 84-member delegation returned home with a record-haul of 29 medals from the Paris Paralympics 2024. Another example of a disabled Indian cricketer has caught the attention of the netizens, leaving them in complete awe of his unique way of pursuing the sport.

A video was shared on the social media platform “X” (formerly Twitter) by Ravi Kant Chauhan, who is a member of the Differently Abled Cricket Committee in the BCCI. The video features a handicapped player from Punjab who is taking run-ups and bowling to a batter in what seems to be a practice session. It can be seen that the player, whose identity is unknown, has a major issue in his lower limbs of legs.

But that isn’t keeping him away from taking the field as he is seen bowling near-perfect deliveries to the batter, similar to a regular cricket bowler. His action is what leaves everyone mesmerised as he takes a shorter run up and with the help of his hands moves himself to the crease to deliver the ball with his left hand, almost taking off, but rests his right hand on the pitch well on time, to quickly regain the balance of his body.

“The passion with which this handicapped player from Punjab is bowling. No one has taught him to bowl like this, rather he is teaching the society himself that if you have the ability to achieve something, then no one can stop you, even if you are physically handicapped. I salute your passion,” Chauhan wrote as caption. The video might just be the push the Paralympics organisers need to induct the game for the next edition.

Here’s the inspirational video –

@BCCI @ICCpic.twitter.com/1nlvFCxD7f

Amir Hussain – another talent

It is for sure that if cricket becomes a Paralympic sport, the Punjab bowler will be an icon. As mentioned earlier, India is a land brimming with the best cricket talents across the world. Another example of an inspirational disabled cricketer is Amir Hussain Lone from Jammu and Kashmir, who shot to fame for his unique batting method. He currently captains the Jammu and Kashmir para-cricket team.

Amir, an armless cricketer, holds the bat in the middle of his neck and left shoulder and hits the ball similar to a regular cricket batter. His talent and passion for the game was even recognised by Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar, who in his trip to Kashmir earlier this year, met with him and gifted him a bat with his autograph, also encouraging him to continue inspiring others.

To Amir, the real hero. Keep inspiring!

It was a pleasure meeting you. pic.twitter.com/oouk55lDkw
