New Delhi: The second round of the Duleep Trophy 2024 concluded on Sunday, September 15 with India A securing their first win of the tournament after thrashing India D by 186 runs and India C playing out a draw against India B. Mayank Agarwal-led India A bowled out India D for 301 runs in their second innings to wrap up a comprehensive win after a stellar batting effort.
India A rode on half-centuries from Shams Mulani and Tanush Kotian to post a strong total of 290 runs in the first innings before bundling out India D for 183 runs in their first innings. The Mayank Agarwal-led side rode on centuries from Pratham Singh and Tilak Varma to post a huge total of 380 runs in their second innings and set up a daunting target for their opponents.
Despite a ton from Ricky Bhui, India D fell short in the run-chase to suffer their second defeat in a row. On the other hand, Ruturaj Gaikwad-led India C showcased their batting might to post a mammoth 525 runs on the board in their first innings against Abhimanyu Easwaran’s India B at Anantapur. However, skipper Easwarn’s valiant 157 denied them a victory as they had to settle for a draw.

Anshul Kamboj
Haryana pacer Anshul Kamboj shone with the ball for India C in their clash against India B at the Rural Development Trust Stadium in Anantapur, Punjab. Kamboj bagged an 8-wicket haul to run through the India B batting line-up in their 1st innings.
He dismissed the likes of Sarfaraz Khan, Musheer Khan, Rinku Singh and Nitish Reddy among others to finish with exceptional figures of 8/69 off his 27.5 overs. Kamboj became only the third pacer after Debasis Mohanty and Ashoke Dinda to bag an 8-wicket haul in an innings in the Duleep Trophy.
Ishan Kishan
Ishan Kishan made a roaring comeback to first-class cricket with a blazing century for India C in their meeting with India B in Anantapur. The wicket-keeper batter looked in cruise control as he slammed a 111-run knock off 126 balls laced with 14 fours and 3 sixes to help India C post a mammoth 525 runs on the board in their first innings.
Kishan had missed the first-round match due to an injury issue but ensured he announced his arrival in style in the Duleep Trophy as he took the India B bowlers to the cleaners en route to his brilliant ton. Kishan looks set for his India comeback as he continues his purple patch on his return to competitive cricket.
Shams Mulani
Mumbai spin all-rounder Shams Mulani produced an excellent all-round display for India A and played a crucial role in their dominant victory against India D at Anantpur. Mulani slammed an 89-run knock to contribute with the bat in India A’s first innings before impressing with the ball.

The Mumbai all-rounder picked up four wickets across India D’s two innings and was particularly clever with the ball during their second innings. He conceded 117 runs off his 29 overs and picked up three important wickets of Devdutt Padikkal, Shreyas Iyer and Sanju Samson in India D’s 2nd innings to set up a convincing victory for his team.
Abhimanyu Easwaran
India B captain Abhimanyu Easwaran led from the front with the bat after his side ended up conceding 525 runs against India C in their first innings. Easwaran was the lone fighter for India B after his opening partnership with N Jagadeesan (70)as he finished with an unbeaten 157 of 286 balls.
It was a valiant knock from Easwaran, who single-handedly kept his team in the hunt and ensured India C didn’t run away with the game after their sensational batting display in their first innings. Easwaran also notched up the highest individual knock by any batter in the second round of the Duleep Trophy.
Ruturaj Gaikwad
India C skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad continued his good form in the 2nd round with back-to-back half-centuries in both innings against India B. Gaikwad scored 58 runs off 74 balls in the first innings and provided India C with a cracking start up top alongside his opening partner Rajat Patidar, who scored 43 runs.
He continued his purple patch in the second innings with a well-made 62 off 93 balls. Though his team had to settle for a draw, it was a fruitful outing with the bat for Gaikwad. The India C captain is currently the 4th highest run-getter in the tournament with 171 runs from 4 innings.

After falling cheaply in India A’s first innings against India D, Tilak Varma made amends in the second innings and went on to notch up an unbeaten ton. Tilak scored 111 not out of 193 balls to help India A post 380 runs on the board in their second innings and play his part in his team’s victory. It was a much-needed big knock from the prolific left-hander, who had missed the first round due to an injury.
