Beirut: After the wave of pagers and walkie-talkies explosions in Lebanon’s capital city Beirut, the Civil Aviation authorities of Lebanon have banned pagers and walkie-talkies on all the flights departing from Beirut’s Rafic Hariri International Airport. The decision has been taken to ensure safety and avoid any untoward incident on the flights.
According to the authorities of Lebanon, the measure was announced on Thursday after a series of explosions occurred in pagers and walkie-talkie devices used by the members of Hezbollah on two consecutive days leading to the deaths of over 20 people.
As per the reports, the devices, which exploded, were mainly used by members of the Hezbollah group. The explosion took place at various places in Lebanon, including the capital city Beirut, killing dozens and wounding 3,000 people over the past two days.
The authorities called on all airline companies to inform passengers using the airport that carrying pagers and walkie-talkies onto jets is banned “until further notice.” It added that authorities will confiscate such devices found with passengers.
