Chennai: Rohit Sharma just can’t keep himself away from the spotlight. The Indian skipper knows how to stay in the news even when he is not performing well on the field. With scores of 5 and 6 in the ongoing first Test against India at the M.A Chidambaram Stadium, Rohit might have failed to lead by example with the bat in Chennai but his teammates stood up and made up for his twin failures to put India in a commanding position at Stumps on Day 2.
While there was plenty of thrilling on-field action on display at the iconic Chepaul stadium, there were few off it that were caught on camera. Among those was Rohit’s hilarious act in the dressing room which is now going viral on social media.
In a rib-tickling moment, Rohit cheekily hit Shubman Gill on his jaw to stun the youngster only for Virat Kohli to remind him that the whole incident was being telecast live. After realising that the whole act was caught on camera, the trio started laughing together.

India take a firm grip on Chennai Test
Despite only managing to add 37 runs to their overnight score of 339/6, India ended Day 2 with a commanding 308-run lead. After Ravichandran Ashwin (113) and Ravindra Jadeja (86) helped India post 376 in the first innings, Indian bowlers, led by Jasprit Bumrah, demolished the visitors’ batting in less than two sessions.
Bumrah bagged four wickets as Bangladesh were skittled out for 149 in 47.1 overs. In reply, India lost Rohit (5) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (10) early before Gill and Kohli combined to add 39 runs for the third wicket. After Kohli was dismissed for 17 against the run of play, Pant (12*) joined Gill (33*) and took India’s score to 81/3 at Stumps on Day 2.
