Tehran: Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has been relocated to a secure location amid heightened security measures, according to two regional officials briefed by Tehran, as reported by Reuters.
The development follows reports that Israel claimed to have killed Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah in an airstrike targeting Beirut’s southern suburbs. This strike carried out a day earlier, would represent a massive blow to Hezbollah, which has been under increasing pressure from a surge in Israeli military actions.
Reports suggest that Iran has maintained constant communication with Hezbollah and its other regional proxy groups as they evaluate their response to the strike. Israel’s announcement of Nasrallah’s death in the airstrike on Friday has heightened tensions, but Hezbollah, which has been led by Nasrallah for 32 years, is yet to release an official statement on his status.
