The celebration will feature captivating live performances over five exhilarating days from October 9th to 13th, 2024, at the Major Dhyan Chand Stadium, conveniently located near the iconic India Gate.

October 10, Saptami rituals, events and attractions

On October 10th, during Maha Saptami, experience vibrant rituals including the Navapatrika entry, Chakshudan Aarti, and Pushpanjali, along with captivating cultural attractions that celebrate the essence of Durga Puja.

The Durga Puja festival kicked off on October 9th, known as Maha Shashti, with the auspicious ceremony of Devi Bodhan. This event marks the ceremonial welcome of Goddess Durga to the pandal, symbolising the commencement of the festivities.

On October 10th, referred to as Mahasaptami, the celebrations will continue with the Navapatrika entry, where the nine forms of the Goddess are brought into the pandal. This is a significant moment, marking the goddess’s arrival in her full glory.

The day also includes the Chakshudan Aarti, a ceremonial ritual that symbolises the opening of the Goddess’s eyes, followed by the Pushpanjali rituals, where devotees offer flowers to the divine. This day is filled with devotion, as participants come together to express their reverence and seek blessings for prosperity and well-being.

Alpana/ Rangoli Competition: On October 10th from 6 to 7 pm, unleash your creativity with this competition inspired by the intricate Bengali art of rangoli.

The festival offers a unique shopping experience with over 250 stalls showcasing a blend of cultures. Attendees can find everything from high-end fashion and beauty products to electronics and home furnishings, making it the ultimate destination for those looking to shop.

TV9’s Festival of India’s events and rituals on Oct 11, 12 and 13

At TV9’s Festival of India, October 11th features the Maha Ashtami celebrations with Sandhi Puja and Bhog Aarti; on October 12th, enjoy the Mahanavami rituals alongside Navami Puja and Prasad distribution; and on October 13th, participate in the grand Vijayadashami celebrations marked by Sindoor Khela and Devi Puja.

Dandiya/Garba Night: Join us on October 11th at 6:30 pm for a lively night filled with traditional dance and vibrant beats.

Dhak and Dhunuchi Nach Competition: Also on October 11th, immerse yourself in the rhythmic beats from 8 to 9:30 pm.

Kids Day Celebration: On October 12th, dedicated to children with drawing, fancy dress, and dance competitions starting at 11 am.

Anandamela Food Extravaganza: Join the Anandamela Food Extravaganza on October 12th at 4 pm, where TV9 employees and their families will serve delectable treats.

Antakshari Competition: Show off your singing skills on October 12th from 6 to 7 pm.

Dhunuchi Nach Competition: Participate in this vibrant dance competition on October 12th from 8 to 9:30 pm.

Sindoor Khela ‘Colour of Goddess’: Conclude the celebrations on October 13th at 9:30 am with this traditional event symbolising love and blessings as we bid farewell to Maa Durga. Dress in traditional attire for this occasion.

The heart of the festival is celebrated on October 11th, known as Maha Ashtami. This day is particularly significant for devotees, as it features the Sandhi Puja—a sacred ritual that honours the Goddess in her most powerful form during the transition between the eighth and ninth day. Following this, the Bhog Aarti takes place, where offerings of delicious food are made to the goddess, symbolising gratitude and devotion. This day is marked by intense spiritual fervour, with devotees engaging in prayers, rituals, and cultural activities to honour the goddess.

On October 12th, designated as Mahanavami, the celebrations culminate in the Navami Puja, a ritual that honours the goddess’s triumph over evil. The day features a Prasad distribution, where the blessed offerings are shared among devotees, fostering a sense of community and shared joy. This day is a vibrant celebration of faith and devotion, as people gather to partake in the divine blessings and enjoy the festive atmosphere.

Finally, the festival concludes on October 13th with Vijayadashami, which marks the end of the Durga Puja celebrations. The day features the traditional Sindoor Khela, a beautiful ritual where married women apply vermilion to each other and the Goddess, symbolising love and auspiciousness. The day is filled with festivities, as devotees bid farewell to Maa Durga, celebrating her victorious return to her celestial abode. The Devi Puja on this day serves as a poignant reminder of the triumph of good over evil, encapsulating the spirit of the festival as participants come together to celebrate with joy and devotion.
