Trump to Address Women Voters in Upcoming Town Hall

Trump to Address Women Voters in Upcoming Town Hall

Former President Donald Trump is set to participate in a town hall hosted by Fox News next week, with the entire audience composed of women. The event, announced by the network on Friday, will focus on issues affecting women and will take place on October 15, airing the following day on “The Faulkner Focus” at 11 a.m. ET.

The town hall comes as Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, struggles to gain support among women voters, particularly in comparison to Vice President Kamala Harris. One of the key issues affecting this demographic is so-called abortion ‘rights’, where Trump has seen a significant drop in support.

Vice President Harris criticized Trump last week for claiming to be a “protector” of women during her interview on a podcast.

The event

The town hall, which will be moderated by Fox News’ Harris Faulkner, aims to shed light on where Trump stands on women’s issues ahead of the 2024 election. Faulkner emphasized the importance of women voters, stating, “Women constitute the largest group of registered and active voters in the United States, so it is paramount that female voters understand where the presidential candidates stand on the issues that matter to them most.”

She added, “I am looking forward to providing our viewers with an opportunity to learn more about where former President Trump stands on these topics.”

What they’re saying

Caroline Sunshine, a spokesperson for the Trump campaign, said the former president is eager to engage directly with female voters. “Women are not politically monolithic and want a thriving economy and safe communities,” Sunshine said in a statement.

“President Trump is looking forward to hearing directly from the women of Georgia and discussing how he will bring down the cost of living and Make America safe, secure, and affordable again,” she added.

Here is what you need to know

The town hall event comes as other media outlets extend similar invitations to the presidential candidates. CNN, for example, has invited both Trump and Harris to participate in separate town halls with undecided voters in Pennsylvania on October 23. As of Thursday, only the Harris campaign has accepted the invitation.

In addition, Harris is scheduled to appear on The Breakfast Club radio show, hosted by Charlamagne Tha God, on Tuesday.

Fox News has extended a “standing invitation” to Vice President Harris for a town hall of similar stature, although no acceptance has been announced.
