SFA Championships 2024 celebrates ‘She Is Gold Day’ and ‘Coach Day’

New Delhi: News9’s one-of-a-kind initiative “Indian Tigers and Tigresses” and Sports For All (SFA) are proving to be a successful pairing in their bid to provide the perfect platform for the young footballers in the country to showcase their talent.

TV9 Network has tied up with SFA, one of the biggest grassroots sports development platforms in India, for the “Indian Tigers and Tigresses” campaign, a pioneering talent hunt that focuses on giving opportunities to young boys and girls (age group – 12 to 14 and 15 to 17) across the country.

A groundbreaking campaign of News9, “Indian Tigers and Tigresses” has collaborated with the best in the business including Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal, India Football Centre, IFI, BVB, and RIESPO among others, to spot the young talent in the country through a world-class scouting network. The winners will be felicitated in Germany in early 2025.

Women and coaches take centre stage in Hyderabad

Day 5 of the SFA Championships 2024 was all about celebrating the impact of women in sports with “She Is Gold Day”, and “Coach Day”, honouring the vital role coaches play in shaping young athletes. With over 80 per cent of the day’s matches featuring female athletes and officials, the Championships continued to push towards greater gender balance in sports, recognising the athletes and the countless women who support them, both on and off the field.

The day kick-started with a glittering celebratory ceremony including fun activity sessions at Gachibowli Stadium where female athletes participated in the championship along with their coaches. All the female athletes recieved goodie bags to encourage them to pursue their sporting dreams. The exciting sessions were followed by competitive action as Vignan’s Bo Tree School (Nizampet) claimed the trophy for winning in the Hockey U-14 Girls category.

In chess, Sreyansh Thumati from Delhi Public School (Khajagud) won the gold medal in the U-7 Boys category and CGR International School CBSE, Hitech City won in U-14 throwball girls. In KhoKho the team from The Future Kids School claimed the gold in the Female U-18 category.

Whereas in Sri Kotla Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy Stadium, Anjali Kummavaina from Vijaya High School (Saket) won the gold medal in the U-13 Karate Kumite Girls category.

At the Shriram Skating Rink, Skating events took centre stage, where athletes displayed impressive speed and skill. The 500m Inline Finals saw Dhruva Puthumbaka from Chirec International School CBSE clinch the gold medal in the U-09 boys category while the Quads and Inline finals continued to captivate spectators.

Tennis took centre stage at Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium where Kashika Karnam from Maharishi Vidya Mandir (Kondapur) secured the gold in the Girls U-12 singles. Meanwhile, in exciting football action, Army Public School (Bolarum) won the gold in the U-16 Girls category.

Following the conclusion of Day 5, DDMS AMS P.Obul Reddy Public School has maintained their place as the top school on the school leaderboard however Vignan’s Bo Tree School (Nizampet) is breathing down their neck.
