After Samit, Rahul Dravid’s younger son Anvay selected for BCCI tournament

New Delhi: Wicketkeeper batter Anvay Dravid, son of former India skipper and coach Rahul Dravid, was named in the probable list of players for Karnataka in the under-16 Vijay Merchant Trophy, which starts on December 6. Anvay is one of three wicketkeepers named in the probable list of 35 members. The other two players are Aditya Jha and Joy James.

Anvay, who previously captained the state under-14 side last year in the meet of inter-zone, had smacked an unbeaten 200 for Bangalore Zone. The innings was against Tumkur Zone in the KSCA Under-16 Inter-Zonal tournament recently, which underlined his potential. Former state player Kunal Kapoor will be the head coach while Adithya B Sagar will be the bowling coach of the under-16 Karnataka team for the Vijay Merchant Trophy.

It is noteworthy that Dravid’s elder son Samit is already playing state-level cricket. He recently played for Karnataka in the Cooch Behar Trophy against Team Baroda in Vadodara. Samit is a medium-pace all-rounder and he made a 71 off 141 balls laced with 11 fours but Karnataka anyways succumbed to Baroda by an innings and 212 runs.

Dravid – The RR head coach

Rajasthan Royals (RR) has pulled in Rahul Dravid as their new head and he recently revealed that the team’s skipper Sanju Samson was involved in making decisions about the franchise’s retention strategy for the IPL 2025 mega auction. Sanju, who plays as a wicketkeeper batter for the Royals, was their first pick in the retentions along with Yashasvi Jaiswal, Dhruv Jurel, Riyan Parag, Shimron Hetmyer and Sandeep Sharma.

When the team announced its retained players, Dravid said that the team is making six out of six retentions, naming the above-mentioned players. He also added that the franchise came to this decision because “we trust our talent.”
