Liverpool’s defender Real Madrid’s primary target next summer: Report

New Delhi: Trent Alexander-Arnold has emerged as the top priority for Real Madrid in the next transfer window. The Liverpool side-back will be a free agent in the next summer and the Anfield hierarchy has yet not confirmed anything related to the defender’s stay.

Amid growing speculations about his future transfer market specialist Fabrizio Romano believes that Spanish giants Real Madrid will go all out to sign him be it in January or when his contract expires with Liverpool in summer.

Real Madrid have reportedly kept a closer eye on Alexander Arnold since the last summer window. Los Blancos desperately want a permanent replacement for Dani Carvajal as the Spaniard is set to remain out for the entire season as he suffered an ACL injury last month.

At present their backup option Lucas Vasquez is also unavailable as he has sustained a muscle tear. In this scenario, Carlo Ancelotti is left with no other option other than to use midfielder Federico Valverde as the right-back in his first team. Madrid might approach him in the January transfer window even though his contract with Liverpool remains valid till August 2025.

Alexander Arnold recently suffered an injury during a match against Aston Villa in the 25th minute and is now even doubtful for England’s upcoming Nations League matches against Greece and Ireland. Slot after the match said that it is difficult to say at the moment the extent of Arnold’s injury.

Arnold’s importance in Arne Slot’s squad

Given Arnold’s crucial role in Arne Slot’s system, Liverpool may make every effort to retain him at Anfield. However, reports suggest that the England international is not interested in renewing his contract with the club, sparking hope for Real Madrid, who are focused on bolstering their defense next summer.

The La Liga giants will likely consider their financial situation carefully during negotiations with Liverpool. If Arnold decides to leave before his contract expires Liverpool could demand a substantial fee.

Amid ongoing speculation linking him with Real Madrid, Arnold remains focused on his current responsibilities at Anfield. Commenting on the situation, he said, “These players are used to being linked with all the top clubs daily, whether they have contracts or not. Maybe if you’re 17 or 18 years of age, it could be difficult for you. But Trent has won the league, has won the Champions League.”

Real Madrid are set to go all out to secure the signing of Liverpool Alexander either in January or when his contract with the Reds expires.  Football Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
