‘Australia, we have arrived’: Team India sounds bugle ahead of Border-Gavaskar Trophy

New Delhi: Team India’s preparations are in full swing ahead of the much-anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. The series opener of the five-match Test affair will begin on November 2022 at the Optus Stadium in Perth.

With less than 10 days to go before the cricket festivities kick off in West Australia, both teams are leaving no stone unturned to be ready to face each other in what is expected to be an intense battle between the top two Test sides in world cricket.

India are sitting below the top-ranked Australians in the World Test Championships (WTC) table as well as the ICC Test rankings.

Under pressure after a humiliating home whitewash against New Zealand, Team India players, sans Rohit Sharma, are sweating it out in the nets at WACA. The Indian skipper is set to miss the opening Test due to the birth of his second child. In his absence, Jasprit Bumrah will lead the Indian team in the first Test and the fast bowler was one of the many players captured by the cameras going through the paces.

The Indian Cricket Board shared a video of India’s practice session on social media platforms which also featured the coaching staff including assistant coaches, Abhishek Nayar, Ryan Ten Doeschate and bowling coach Morne Morkel. The coaches talked about the challenge of the Australia tour and also sounded bugle by saying ‘Australia, we have arrived’.

Meanwhile, according to a report in The West tabloid, fans climbed trees and brought ladders to catch a glimpse of Virat Kohli sweating it out in the nets.

Kohli, who was the first Indian player to arrive in Perth, looked in good rhythm in the net session. The 36-year-old superstar, who has come to Australia in poor form, will look to replicate his past performances Down Under.
