New Delhi: The YouTuber turned boxer provoked his opponent Mike Tyson by wearing a diamond-studded guard during the press conference of the event. The ear guard has a rich history related to Tyson’s boxing career.
The ear guard reminded the fight between Tyson and Evander Holyfield when Tyson bit the ear of Holyfield during the fight in 1997 in Nevada. Paul provoked Tyson by wearing the guard in the press conference.
“I’m not getting my s**t bitten off Friday night,” Paul said. “I got my diamond-spiked ear covers.” According to reports, the ear guard costs $100,000.
Tyson was disqualified from that fight after he bit the ear of Holyfield and was out of action for 15 months. He was suspended by the boxing committee for 15 months. Tyson was preparing well ahead of the fight, and he is looking fit in the training.
“My own mother should be very careful if she has to get in the ring with me. When it’s over, it’s over. But while the process is going on, my intention is to hurt him. I hope he has the same intentions, or he is in trouble,” Tyson was quoted as saying by ESPN.
Tyson was also 58 years old and fighting the half-aged fighter; it takes guts to fill up Tyson’s shoes as he will face 28-year-old Paul in his next fight.
Tyson last fought in the ring was way back in 2005, where he lost against Kevin McBridge. Tyson is 50-6 in the boxing ring, where he finished the fight 44 time inside the distance. Paul is 10-1 in his boxing career and finished the fight seven times. He won his last fight against Mike Peery in July 2024.
