BCCI Secretary Jay Shah condemns PCB’s move to conduct Champions Trophy Tour in PoK

New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary has strongly condemned the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) plan to promote the Champions Trophy in the country. The PCB on Thursday announced the trophy tour in the Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK).

The tournament was last played in 2017 at the Oval in London where Pakistan defeated India by 180 runs in the final. The eight-team tournament is already in the state of uncertainty after the BCCI officially informed ICC about Team India’s inability to travel to Pakistan.

According to the news agency ANI, Jay Shah expressed strong objections against the plan and raised the matter with the International Cricket Council (ICC).

A senior BCCI official told PTI that Jay Shah, the BCCI secretary called up the ICC and slammed PCB’s move to conduct a Trophy tour of multiple cities of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir. According to the BCCI official, Shah has urged the ICC to take strong action if the Trophy tour happens in PoK.

‘Not aware if PCB had kept everyone in loop about the trophy tour in any disputed region’: ICC Board Member

The ICC Board Member told PTI that the discussion for the Champions Trophy tour is still going on. He further added that he’s not aware if the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) kept everyone in the loop about the trophy tour in PoK. He also said that the ICC will not allow the PCB to take the trophy to any disputed region.
