New Delhi:According to reports, FC Barcelona has been given a strict deadline by the Barcelona City Council to leave the Estadi Lluis Companys by May 2025. The stadium is scheduled to hold significant cultural events that are incompatible with other events, which is the reason for this decision. As a result, the Blaugrana will no longer be allowed to play their games at the Montjuic stadium as of May 1.
This ultimatum shouldn’t provide Barcelona with any major issues. Prior conversations within the club had contemplated moving even sooner, by the end of 2023. But this concept ran into problems, mostly because of UEFA’s regulations that forbid changing the location during the Champions League group stage. The club has since abandoned the notion of alternating sites, shutting out the chance of playing La Liga games at the Spotify Camp Nou while hosting European matchups at Montjuic.
The team intends to start its phased return to the recently refurbished Spotify Camp Nou in February 2025, taking these limitations into consideration. Barcelona has roughly three months—February, March, and April—to complete the necessary preparations for this big transfer, according to the schedule.

The stadium is still under construction, especially in the third tier, so the return won’t be instantaneous or comprehensive. Fans will initially only be able to access 60% of the stadium’s capacity. The Spotify Camp Nou restoration is still a long-term project, and it is not anticipated to be finished until 2026.
